Sofia is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Bulgaria. It is located in western Bulgaria, at 550 meters above sea level, in the foot of the mountain massif Vitosha.

Plovdiv is the second largest city in Bulgaria. It is an important administrative centre in Southern Bulgaria, famous for its ancient and diverse culture and millenary history. On Plovdiv City tour you’ll visit the most impressive landmarks like The Old Plovdiv – an architectural and historical reserve, situated on The Three Hills. You’ll see the Roman Theatre from II century that has been restored and is being used even today for different performances and festivals. You can drop by the partly uncovered Roman Stadium and the 14-th century Djumaia Mosque. On the main pedestrian street you’ll discover the colorful and ornate houses, the oldest city park of Bulgaria and more Roman ruins including the Roman Forum and the small theatre – The Odeon. Many of the street cafes, restaurants, shops, fountains and street musicians attract the visitors of this spectacular city.

Tour to the Wonderful Bridges, Bachkovo Monastery and Asen’s Fortress.
From Plovdiv you head towards the Rhodope Mountains passing through the pretty town of Asenovgrad. Nearby you’ll see the remarkable remains of King Ivan Asen’s Fortress – a wise ruler of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. Going on deeper in the Rhodope Mountains towards the picturesque Bachkovo Monastery. According to the legend and the big number of healed people this remarkable icon is believed to be miracle working. Next you’ll continue the tour towards The Wonderful Bridges situated at 1450 m. a. s. l. in the heart of the lovely Rhodope Mountains. This unique nature phenomenon consists of two rocky bridges (height of 45 m) over a small river. The marble bridges were formed by an earthquake and the erosive activity of the once high-water river.

Sightseeing in Plovdiv
There are three main areas in the heart of Plovdiv that attract the visitors: The Old Town, Kapana and the central pedestrianised areas of the new town. all in relatively close proximity to each other, but you will need two days to get round the sights, especially if you’re planning on going inside the museums and old houses.
The Old Town is compact but it is built on three hills and the streets and few pavements are made of very bumpy cobblestones, which can soon wear you out. Sturdy footwear and plenty of refreshment stops are recommended.
Restaurants in Plovdiv
There are many of places to eat or drink in Plovdiv particularly in and around Kapana.
In the Old Town most of the restaurants are fancy and there are few places to buy a snack.
On and near the main pedestrian street you will find all manner of snack bars, cafes serving food, pizzerias and take away such as pizza slices, doner kebabs, cardboard cups of hot sweetcorn and more.
The main shopping area is pedestrianised starting from the Trimontium Hotel/Central Square and reaching the far bank of the Maritsa river via the pedestrian footbridge. The wide street is lined with cafes, bars and restaurants, all with outside tables and canopies.
There are few international brands, but that makes it all the more interesting to shop here, with the offering consisting primarily of shoe shops and men’s, women’s and children’s fashion.
If you are looking for arts and crafts head for Kapana district which you can access from the main shopping street, turning right into the little alleys at some point after Dzhumaya mosque. Here you will find craft shops, unique fashion and jewellery by local designers and natural beauty products.
Antique shops are to be found primarily in the Old Town and they too hide all manner of paintings, furniture (particularly old chests), books, weapons, and Socialist memorabilia. Don’t be afraid to haggle.
